Emil Meynig, 69, life resident of Galveston County and resident of High Island for the
last 38 years; died yesterday morning at 9:40 o'clock in his home there. Born in
Galveston County, Mr. Meynig was a survivor of the four severe tropical storms that raked
the coastline during his lifetime. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 5 o'clock
in the residence. Burial will be in a High Island cemetery, with Roberts Undertaking company
of Beaumont incharge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Meynig; two daughters, Mrs. R. L. Bradley
of Evangeline, La., and Mrs. T. R. Kirkpatrick of High Island, and five sons, C. Meynig of Beaumont
H. S. od Cleveland, Texas, L. E. and E. Meynig of Conroe, and Roy Meynig of High Island.

ROBERTSON RITES ARE SET FOR 3 O'CLOCK
Veteran Oik Man Succumbs Here Thursday Afternoon
Funeral services for Joseph A Robertson, 76, of 1185 Harriot street, who died at a local
hospital at 5:15 p.m. Thursday following a long illness will be held at the late residence
at 3 p. m. Friday. Rev. H. V. Watts, pastor of the Roberts Avenue Methodist church, will
officiate. Interment under the direction of Pipkin and Brulin, will be in Magnolia cemetery
Active pallbearers will be Will Crenshaw, Pledger Eastham, Earl Patton, J. E. Hunsucker,
Floyd Pipkin, and Ed Dushie. Mr. Robertson made his home in the city since 1901. He worked in
Spindle Top field during the early days of the field, and later worked in Sour Lake for the late
Miles Frank Yount. The two men grew to be close friends years ago, and when the late Mr. Yount
began his oil operations in the Beaumont field, he always had in his employ Mr. Robertson. Surviving
Mr Robertson are his wife, Elizabeth Robertson; four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Crenshaw of Houston, Mrs. H. C. Sampson
of High Island and Miss Eula and Emma Robertson of this city; two brothers, W. S. C. Robertson and
Marion F. Robertson both of California and four sisters; Emma Moore of Pasadena, Texas, Mrs. H. O. Hopkins
of Manchester, Texas; Tallie Meynig of High Island and Mrs. Ora Barry of Wortham, Texas and six
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral for Margie Sampson, 89, of Lumberton was to be at 2 p.m. today at the Farmer Funeral
Home with burial in Resthaven Cemetery. She died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday at her home. A native of
Port Bolivar, she had lived in Beaumont several years and in Lumberton four years. She and her
husband operated the Sampson Grocery in High Island for 40 years. Survivors include her son, L. H.
Sampson of Lumberton; a sister, Pearl Crenshaw of Houston; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Rhena Robertson Kiker
Rhena Robertson Kiker, 89, died Saturday, July 13, 1991, at Beaumont Medical and surgical
Hospital. She was a native and life long resident of Beaumont and was the widow of the late
Buel N Kiker. Mrs. Kiker was retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company after fifty-one
years of service. She was a member and Past President of the Founders Lioness Club and of the
Evening Pilot Club. A long time supporter of the cultural arts in Beaumont, she was active in
the Beaumont Civic Opera Buffs. Mrs. Kiker was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Ruth
Wesley Class of the First United Methodist Church. The funeral was Monday at 4:00 P.M. in the First
Methodist Church with Dr. John A (Von) Dawson, the pastor, officiating. Burial was in Magnolia
Cemetery under the direction of Broussard's Mortuary with Charles Kiker, J. W. Kiker, Arthur
Buzz) Kiker, Homer Kiker, Kary Kiker, Ben Kiker, Dale Kiker & J. E. Sherman serving as pallbearers.

Vincent M. Robertson, age 19, died of Spanish influenzaat the training camp at College
Station at 4:40 o'clock on October 13. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Robertson of
642 Harriet street, and was born and reared in Beaumont, graduating from the high school
in the class of 1917. He had been in the service only a few weeks, prior to which he was
in the employ of the Magnolia Petroleum company, Funeral services in charge of Broussard, Taylor
& Davant, were held at 4 o'clock today at the family residence. Dr. H. G. Cooke of the First
Methodist Church, conducted the services, Besides his parents, young Robertson is survived by two
sisters, Rena and Vera Robertson, and a brother, John Wesley Robertson.
Note: There was a national infuenza epidemic during October 1918.

Mrs. Robertson Dies in Hospital
Resident Here for 43 Years Was Native of Port Bolivar
Mrs. J. M. Robertson, 62, a resident of Beaumont 43 years and a native of Port Bolivar,
died in a local hospital at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Robertson resided at
1930 Harriet street. Funeral arrangements are being completed by Broussard's mortuary.
Surviving relatives are a son, John Wesley Robertson of Houston; two daughters, Miss Vera
Robertson and Mrs. B. N. Kiker, both of Beaumont; three sisters, Mrs. Martin Wagner of Port
Neches, Mrs. Joe Stephenson of Galveston and Miss Jate Linder of Beaumont; three brothers, John
W. Linder, A. C. Linder and V. J. Linder, all of Beaumont, and four grandchildren.
